Stair tread and riser installation

Updated: Jan 13, 2023

We completely upgraded these two flights of stairs with new stair treads and risers

Worn out pine stair treads & carpet

We replaced these worn out pine stair treads on the 2nd floor and worn out carpet in the basement with brand new solid oak stair treads and risers. We didn't stop there, we also added a custom newel post and rail. It completely transforms the entryway of this lovely home!

When we install stair treads we custom fit each tread to fit on each individual stair. Each one is a slightly different size and angle. You can not just cut them stair otherwise you'll have large gaps on each side.

We measure and cut each one, test fit the entire staircase. Once everything is satisfactory we bring them back to our shop to stain and apply 3 coats of sealant. It typically takes 2-3 days to apply the stain and sealant because of the drying time required. This will allow you to continue to use the stairs for the time being. Then after everything is dry, we bring them back and us premium adhesive to glue them down plus a few finish nails. Then we also add cove molding under the lip of each stair to finish it off.

Carpet is one of the worst options to put on a staircase. The weight of the average person a long with the force being applied each time you go up and down will very quickly flatten even the best carpet. We can install stair treads and risers cheaper than you can carpet it! Ours will last for many years. Carpet will likely be flat within the first year.
